From words to action!
The Community Engagement and Social Development Initiative (CESDI) has officially launched the Community-Led Conflict Prevention and Resilience Peacebuilding Project in Rimi and Batagarawa LGAs of Katsina State, with funding support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
The official launch was jointly declared by the Chairmen of Rimi and Batagarawa Local Government Areas, alongside the District Heads of Rimi and Batagarawa, marking an important step toward strengthening community-led peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and resilience across the two LGAs.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including local government leaders, traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, women and youth leaders, village heads, Women Development Officers, and other community representatives.
A COLLECTIVE PLEDGE FOR PEACE
In a powerful demonstration of unity and shared responsibility, stakeholders pledged to stand for peace—in our homes, farms, markets, and communities.
Through the project, CESDI will focus on:
Strengthening community peace structures
Promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and social cohesion
Engaging women and youth as active peace actors
Building the capacity of traditional and religious leaders
Strengthening community-based approaches to conflict prevention and resilience
The event was led by CESDI CEO, Hajiya Fareedah Yashe, who reaffirmed CESDI’s commitment to working closely with communities and stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence, resilience, and inclusive peacebuilding across Rimi and Batagarawa LGAs.
Haj Mariyah Ahmad also provided further insight into the project’s goals and objectives, highlighting the importance of community ownership and collective action in preventing conflict and building resilient communities.
The successful launch represents more than the beginning of a project—it marks a shared commitment to turn words into action and make peace a collective responsibility.
OUR MESSAGE IS SIMPLE:
Peace in our homes.
Peace in our farms.
Peace in our markets.
Peace in our communities.
Together, we can build stronger, safer, more peaceful, and resilient communities.
